Empire Breckenridge Select 42" Vent-Free Firebox
The Breckenridge Select 42" is the widest model of Empire's floor-level vent-free firebox line. With no lower louvers and a low-profile top and bottom, it installs at or near floor level — a tall, deep stage behind a generous 40"-wide opening, with less firebox face showing, for the look of a site-built fireplace. It's zero-clearance certified, installs without a chimney or flue, and accepts any certified vent-free burner and log set.

Because it draws room air for combustion and vents nothing outdoors, the Breckenridge Select can go where a vented unit can't — interior walls, additions, and rooms without a chimney path. The low floor height is what sets it apart: the fire sits close to the floor like a masonry fireplace, rather than raised behind a louvered face.
Despite the minimal face, it remains a recirculating firebox, so Empire's optional automatic single-speed blower (with speed control) can be added, along with the ember kit, liners, decorative door set, and steel frame offered for the line.

This is the firebox only. To complete the fireplace you'll add a certified vent-free burner and log set, sized for a 42" firebox. An extended hood is also required when your surround material is thicker than 1 inch.
