The Rushmore 40 widens Empire's luxury built-in to a statement scale — a clean-face direct-vent fireplace where the TruFlame system fills a 40" opening edge to edge with tall, realistic flames over a glowing ember bed. Sealed combustion keeps indoor air untouched, and the multifunction remote runs everything, including a Smart Thermostat mode that modulates the flame as the room reaches temperature.

What's the difference between this and the Rushmore inserts?
This is the built-in fireplace — it frames into a wall in new construction or a remodel. The inserts slide into an existing wood-burning fireplace. Same TruFlame system, different installation.
What does the Smart Thermostat mode do?
Instead of switching the fire on and off like a conventional thermostat, Smart mode modulates the flame height down as the room approaches your set temperature — steadier heat and a fire that's always burning at the right size.
Does it need a chimney?
Not a traditional one — it's a direct-vent system that vents through an approved pipe run to the outside (through-wall or vertical). The venting components are configured to your installation and sold separately.
