Empire Vail Premium Peninsula 36" Vent-Free Gas Fireplace
The Vail Premium Peninsula is the three-sided flagship of Empire's vent-free fireplace line — 38,000 BTU of glass-free fire visible from the front and both sides, built to project into a room or cap a peninsula wall. The Slope Glaze Vista burner comes installed, the banded brick liner is preinstalled, and arched frames with fixed screens finish all three openings. No chimney, no flue.

The Vista burner is installed, but the fireplace ships without logs. To complete it, add a 24" vent-free log set designed for the Slope Glaze Vista burner.

What does "peninsula" mean here?
The fireplace is open on three sides — front, left, and right — so it's designed to project into a room or terminate a partial wall, with the fire visible from three directions through fixed screens.
Does it need a chimney or vent?
No. It's a vent-free fireplace — it uses room air for combustion and requires no chimney, flue, or outside venting, which is what makes a mid-room peninsula installation possible. Vent-free appliances are not permitted in some jurisdictions; check your local codes before ordering.
Is there glass between the fire and the room?
No glass — the three openings have arched frames with fixed barrier screens, so the flame reads as an open fire from every side.
What safety systems are built in?
Piezo ignition and an oxygen depletion sensor (ODS) are standard — the ODS shuts the burner down if room oxygen drops below safe levels.
How is it shipped?
Free and fully insured by freight carrier, with tracking and a scheduled delivery appointment. Plan a clear access route and a flat spot to receive it.
