Empire Vail Premium See-Through 36" Vent-Free Gas Fireplace
The Vail Premium See-Through puts one fire in two rooms — a 38,000 BTU vent-free fireplace open front and back, framed into the wall between them. The Slope Glaze Vista burner comes installed, the banded brick liner is preinstalled, and arched frames with fixed screens finish both openings. No chimney, no flue, and both rooms share the heat.

Because it draws room air for combustion and vents nothing outdoors, the See-Through can be framed into an interior partition wall — living room to dining room, kitchen to den — where a vented double-sided unit would be impossible without a flue. One installation, two warmed rooms, and the fire as the connection between them.

The Vista burner is installed, but the fireplace ships without logs. To complete it, add a 24" vent-free log set designed for the Slope Glaze Vista burner.

What does "see-through" mean here?
The fireplace is open on the front and back, so it's framed into a wall between two rooms and the same fire is visible and enjoyed from both sides through fixed screens.
Does it need a chimney or vent?
No. It's a vent-free fireplace — it uses room air for combustion and requires no chimney, flue, or outside venting, which is what makes an interior-wall see-through installation possible. Vent-free appliances are not permitted in some jurisdictions; check your local codes before ordering.
Is there glass between the fire and the rooms?
No glass — both openings have arched frames with fixed barrier screens, so the flame reads as an open fire from either room.
What safety systems are built in?
Piezo ignition and an oxygen depletion sensor (ODS) are standard — the ODS shuts the burner down if room oxygen drops below safe levels.
