Do I need a concrete slab or an existing deck?
Not necessarily. The Azenco K-BANA Platform Edition includes a built-in floor, so it stands on lawn, gravel, or unfinished ground with no slab required (the ground should be level and stable). Can I use this as a covered patio or patio roof?
Yes. With the louvers closed, a louvered pergola works as a covered patio — a patio roof you can open and close instead of a fixed solid cover. Closed, the interlocking aluminum louvers plus the integrated gutter system route rain and snow away and keep the space below dry; open or angled, you get sun and airflow on demand. That's the advantage over a permanent roof: it's a covered pergola when you want shelter and an open one when you don't.
